Welcome to Mythic Minis
Miniature painting has always been about more than paint and plastic for me.
Some of my favorite memories from working at Games Workshop weren’t centered on the models themselves, but on the conversations that happened around them. Hobbyists would bring in projects, share ideas, celebrate breakthroughs, and talk through the challenges that come with learning new skills or finishing ambitious armies. Those conversations were often as rewarding as the hobby itself.
When I eventually moved on, I realized I missed that part of the job most of all.
Mythic Minis grew from a desire to continue those conversations—to create a place where painters can learn new techniques, find inspiration for their next project, and discover the satisfaction that comes from turning ideas into finished work. Whether you’re picking up your first brush or returning to a project that’s been sitting on the shelf for years, I hope you’ll find something here that helps you take the next step on your own hobby journey.
About Peter
My Hobby Journey
Like many hobbyists, I was drawn to miniature painting because it combined creativity, storytelling, and craftsmanship in a way few other hobbies could. What began as an interest in fantasy and science-fiction worlds gradually became a lifelong pursuit of learning new techniques, tackling ambitious projects, and discovering the satisfaction that comes from seeing a finished army or display piece on the shelf.
One of the most rewarding chapters of that journey was my time working at Games Workshop. While I certainly enjoyed teaching painting techniques and helping customers get started, what I valued most were the conversations. Every hobbyist brought their own goals, challenges, and discoveries to the table. Whether someone was painting their first miniature or completing a project years in the making, there was always something to learn from sharing the experience.
Those conversations shaped the way I think about the hobby today. Painting is about developing skills, but it’s also about patience, persistence, and learning to enjoy the creative process. Some projects come together quickly. Others spend years waiting on a shelf before finally reaching the finish line.
That perspective continues to guide everything I do at Mythic Minis. I still enjoy learning new techniques, experimenting with new tools, and exploring different games and miniature ranges. Most of all, I enjoy sharing what I learn along the way.

What is the Creator Mindset and Why it is Important
Miniature painting teaches more than brush control and color theory.
Every hobbyist eventually encounters unfinished projects, stalled armies, abandoned ideas, and the temptation to chase the excitement of the next purchase rather than finish the work already sitting on the hobby desk. I’ve certainly been there myself.
Over the years, I’ve learned that some of the most valuable lessons in the hobby have little to do with paint. Patience, persistence, planning, and the willingness to keep moving forward often matter just as much as technical skill.
That’s why Mythic Minis includes The Creator Mindset. These articles explore the habits, challenges, and discoveries that help hobbyists finish projects, develop confidence, and find satisfaction in the creative process. They’re not lessons from an expert looking down from a mountaintop. They’re observations gathered one project, one mistake, and one finished miniature at a time.
Because the goal isn’t simply to own great models.
It’s to create them.
