About Artist James Francis

Hi, I’m James! Long-time painter and enthusiast of miniature models!

My passion for painting miniatures started at a very young age when my grandfather gave me a Godzilla model kit. I remember my next project was building a 60-piece Battle of Hoth diorama from  The Empire Strikes Back, which I loved until it was accidentally stepped on and broken.

Over the years, I experimented with Star Wars and Gundam models.

Despite using poor-quality brushes and only water to thin enamel paints, I managed to create detailed models.

My craft improved when I discovered Warhammer. On my first visit to a hobby store, I was captivated by the customizable models and bought a metal Tyranid Ravener with three paints: black ink, scab red, and bleached bone.

Although I initially struggled, I persisted and honed my skills. Twenty years later, Warhammer remains a constant in my life, offering comfort and relaxation as I continue to grow and push myself in this hobby.

My Miniature Painting Resume

I enjoy painting and helping others with their projects. Sharing tips and seeing their admiration is rewarding. Improving my skills is important to me. A fully painted Warhammer army brings the lore to life, creating an immersive world for everyone to enjoy.

I’m passionate about painting now. I enjoy seeing others appreciate my work and feel honored when they ask for my help with their projects. It’s rewarding to share my knowledge and assist others on their painting journey, helping them achieve their own sense of accomplishment and pride.

I want be better than I was yesterday. The immersion that a fully painted army can give helps bring out all the lore that I’ve gotten to learn about Warhammer over the years. It feels like it brings alive a world that I have had a part in creating.

my advice to new painters

Take your time, there’s always more to do on a model and sometimes a model never feels finished. Don’t be afraid to try something new. If your plan messes up just try again. Stick with it you will eventually create something incredible. Making a world takes patience and grit.
