About Peter V
Hi There! I am Artist, Peter V, and Founder of this gallery of painted miniatures!
Painting miniatures became a passion of mine about 10 years ago. Mythic Minis Studio is a way for me to share my work, but over the years I’ve discovered so many other great artists whose desire it is to be seen.
Painting Miniatures Changed My Life
For as long as I can remember I have been at odds with a chronic condition. Granted, it’s nothing life threatening, but certainly debilitating to the point where it has had a tremendous impact on my education and work over the years.
In the early 2000’s my condition culminated to a point where my life and career were put on hold so I could sort myself out. It was years of much trial and failure before I was able to start building my life back again.
Even during those times of building and success were a roller coaster of set-backs and rethinking, but I was making progress and life was getting a little better. In 2013, I made the leap back into a more career oriented job.
More money meant more responsibility and more stress. Subsequently, the stress slowly ate away at my health and symptoms of my chronic condition flared up again.
In mid 2015, on top of job stresses increasing, I also lost a loved one, and it was only a matter of time before I was going to lose my shit.
The hobby community helped me break through anti-social behaviors and step out of my comfort zone.
Painting was a huge way to relieve stress with relaxation and a feeling of accomplishment. A passionate community was engaging and encouraging, and contributed to a sense of accomplishment after every completed project.
My Miniature Painting Resume
These are some accomplishments that are merely milestones in my journey of this amazing hobby. I treasure these achievements because of the experiences shared with friends along the way, and what I look forward to most is the friendships that will form in the future.
It is my belief..
that every miniature painter has either a unique vision for each miniature or a unique talent with the brush. Put yourself into the brush! A painted miniature is always appreciated, even if imperfect, when the color scheme or painting technique is a reflection of YOU.
Imposter Syndrome
Comparing your work to others is a great way to level up skills, but it can also be a thief of joy. Be encouraged! Remember that people are awed by your work just as you may be awed by the work of your favorite artists on social media.
What I’ve Learned
It is important to absorb criticism and not take things personally. Keep painting, keep practicing. Be open and honest with yourself, and you will level up every time you pick up a brush!
