Stormcast Eternals are one of the most iconic armies in Age of Sigmar, and Vindictors make an excellent project for both new and experienced painters. Their large armor panels, clean details, and simple color blocking make them approachable while still offering plenty of opportunities for highlights and refinement.
This guide walks through the process I used to paint a Vindictor using a classic gold-and-blue Stormcast color scheme.

Step 1: Basecoat the Model
Begin by applying your base colors to each section of the miniature.
Paint the armor with Retributor Armor, the shoulder pads with Kantor Blue, the parchment with Rakarth Flesh, and the armor joints with Abaddon Black. Metallic details such as chainmail, weapon accents, and buckles can be painted with Leadbelcher.
At this stage, focus on neat coverage rather than perfect transitions.

Step 2: Apply Washes
Once the base coats are dry, shade the model using washes.
Apply Reikland Fleshshade over the gold armor to deepen shadows and add warmth. Use Nuln Oil on the blue shoulder pads, parchment, black armor joints, and metallic details.
Allow the washes to dry completely before moving on.

Step 3: Layer the Base Colors
Restore the original colors on the raised areas while leaving the wash visible in the recesses.
Use Auric Armor Gold on the armor, Alaitoc Blue on the shoulder pads, Karak Stone on the parchment, Eshin Grey on the black armor joints, and Leadbelcher on metallic details where necessary.

Step 4: Highlight the Model
Apply smaller, more focused highlights to the edges and highest points. Use Stormhost Silver on the armor, Teclis Blue on the shoulder pads, Pallid Wych Flesh on the parchment, Dawnstone on the armor joints, and Stormhost Silver on metallic details.

Step 5: Finish the Details
Complete any remaining details, tidy mistakes, and add any final touches to the miniature before basing and photographing the finished model.
