Myrmourn Banshees

Myrmourn Banshees are often seen accompanying powerful Nighthaunt heroes or acting as guardians for places of great importance to their faction. They fiercely protect these locations and strike fear into the hearts of their enemies.

No enemy spell is safe from the diabolical hunger of the Myrmourn Banshees. They haunt the Mortal Realms in search of magic to consume and living foes to stab. Even the most potent of wizards is powerless before them.

Painting and Basing Theme

These pre-made bases are really awesome and save time on designing the paint job. However, I wanted to do something different than the typical Vampiric Sylvanian color scheme.

I have always been torn between wet and dry skeletons in the undead factions. While I think they’re both cool, I also think they’re both unimaginative. My undead faction leans more desert than Sylvania because I began with Tomb Kings. But, I like the idea of my undead being somewhere in between.

Imagine the Old World equivalents of Mediterranean Coastal lands and islands.

For basing, I was looking for more of a marble or yellow limestone look than a desert sandstone or cold dawnstone look.

For the paint scheme on the banshees, I decided on a standard color scheme since it had been a couple of years since I picked up a brush. I wasn’t feeling confident enough to be cute with a color scheme.

This is one of those projects I adore because I’ve since leveled up my painting and photography. I still struggle with the application of contrast paints. They go against the grain of everything I learned as an upcoming painter. Also, I’ve only recently discovered lighting applications that work extremely well when photographing miniatures.

The key to having your miniatures not looking blocky or like they have gloppy paint is lighting. For a couple of years, I thought I wasn’t thinning my paint enough.

These were great little models for practicing new painting techniques. At $15 for 4 models they are a great price. Also, they offer enough in variation of details and textured surfaces to offer some variation in practice and technique.
